The Rolex Explorer reference 214270 is the first Explorer with a case size of 39mm. Before its introduction in 2010, all Explorers had a traditional 36mm case, and didn’t feature solid end links. Next to a new case, the watch also received a new movement: Caliber 3132.

 Six years after its release, Rolex updated the 214270 with a new dial featuring luminous infill to the 3, 6, and 9 markers, and enlarged the handset making its overall look appear more proportional. With that changes a second series of the 214270 was born.
